International Flights to Costa Rica arrive either into San Jose at the San Juan Santa Maria International Airport (SJO) or to Liberia (LIR) at the Daniel Oduber International Airport. Please make certain that you specify the correct airport when making your transportation arrangements.

Small Plane Transport Directly to La Fortuna
There is an intra-country airline named Nature Air www.natureair.com with flights arriving into the La Fortuna/El Tanque (FONT) landing strip directly from San Jose and Quepos, and a flight from Liberia that connects through Pavas airport in San Jose to La Fortuna.
Nature Air does not fly from the San Jose (SJO) Airport but rather from a small airport named Pavas (Tobias Bolaňos) Airport about 15-30 minutes away from the San Jose Airport depending on the traffic. Please factor this travel time into your schedule when connecting with International flights. For Private Charters these planes can pick up at the San Jose International Airport.
The La Fortuna/El Tanque regional airport is 30 minutes from the Springs Resort & Spa. A special rate on the flights of $85 per person each way has been negotiated with Nature Air for all Springs Resort & Spa guests from the San Jose and Liberia airports which may be booked directly at www.natureair.com. A booking code will be provided upon confirmation of your hotel reservation. Transportation arrangements from the La Fortuna airport to the resort may be made by contacting our concierge, Johnny Castillo at concierge@thespringscostarica.com.
Small Plane Transport Directly from San José Airport or Liberia
Sansa Regional from Aviancataca Group, your flight leave from the Juan Santamaria International Airport, is more easy when you arrive or departure with international flight, because is the same airport.

Private Plane Charters (Prices fluctuate with availability)
You can charter small planes from a King Air which holds 6-8 people to Twin Otters or Cessna Caravans that hold between 14 and 18 people. During the Low Season a Twin Otter (18 passenger) might run around $1,200 per leg depending upon availability and probably $2,500 during the high season but these prices vary according to flight time requests, pick up locations and the ability to work around their fixed schedules. We will be happy to price these charters for you.
Please note that it is always a good idea to fly in the mornings when the weather is clearer especially during the rainy seasons. Also, these small planes do not hold a large quantity of luggage and it is best with a large group to send the luggage by ground transport.
Private Helicopter Charters (Prices fluctuate with availability)

You can charter either the Bell 206 L4 turbine helicopter that can hold six passengers or the McDonnell Douglas MDX Twin Turbine Helicopter that can also hold six passengers. There are also piston driven helicopters for around $800 per hour but we always
Bell 206 L4 Single Turbine Helicopter (6 passenger) $1,600 per hour but you must pay for total flight time of the helicopter to return to its home base or fly to a destination and pick you up. They fly out of the Private Pavas Airport but can pick up at San Jose International.

McDonnell Douglas MDX Twin Turbine (6 passenger) $3,500 per hour – This is the best helicopter in Costa Rica because it is twin turbine- You must pay for total flight time of the helicopter to return to its home base or fly to a destination and pick you up. They fly out of the Private Pavas Airport but can pick up at San Jose International.
